On Tuesday the 8th of November, the judging panel for the Great British High Street Award came to the market to view our Enterprise Club stall. They arrived at about 3 o’clock and spoke to us about who we are and what we do. Cameron, Coralie, Anna, Jim, Rhiannon and I helped Sarah and Mrs. Rockett for several hours. We got out of school for this. Market Harborough is in second place in the public vote. The judges will announce their decision in December. We feel we made a contribution to helping Harborough’s chances of winning the Great British High Street Award!! Mrs. Rockett and Sarah said we were fab!!
Enterprise going down a treat so so so so so glad and happy and it has been so so good and busy.Having tons of fun seeing new people and we are so grateful to people who donate fabric and frames.

Welcome back to all Enterprisers who have returned for another year of creating and selling and all the other activities that the club members get up to. A warm welcome to all those Enterprisers who are new to the Club. We have old and new members at all 6 schools. As a reminder to you, our 6 schools are Little Bowden, Great Bowden, Farndon Fields, St. Joseph’s, Meadowdale and Welland Park.
Sarah and I are busy with all of you planning this term’s selling events. We are always down at the Indoor Market every Saturday and all of you are welcome to join us. Many kids come to the Market for a first visit just to see what we do and then return on a future Saturday to start working behind the stall. Other kids join us right away. For many Enterprisers, coming to the stall is the very best of the club. We hope that all of you can find some time in the upcoming year to join us.
We are planning an event called a ‘Community Crafting’ event on Sunday the 20th of November at the Great Bowden Village Hall between 1 pm and 4 pm. We will be inviting people to come and craft alongside us making Acholi paper bracelets, friendship bracelets, Xmas tree decorations etc. We will also be selling our own handcrafted jewellery and other vintage and retro jewellery that we have picked up over the years and that people have donated to us. We will serve coffee, tea and hot chocolate and homemade cakes. We are hoping that all the Enterprisers can make a contribution of a baked good and also help us out on the day with teaching the visitors how to make Acholi beads and friendship bracelets etc. More about this event in the near future.
We are planning to have some school-based sales closer to Xmas at school nativity performances and other seasonal events. We are anticipating another exciting year of meeting one another from all the 6 schools, creating great products and selling successfully so we can make lots of donations of our profits to good causes.
Well today marks the end of another fantastic year of Enterprising! We had our last Saturday market today and Anna.Cameron,Rhiannon and Elise attended. Everyone else was busy with family events. We will be starting again on the market in the last week of August and our school clubs begin again in the second full week of school. Thanks for everyone’s help over this most successful year. I’m very excited about next year and all the great things Sarah and I will be doing with the clubs. Signing off for the summer – Canada here I come!!
Hi today we are talking to Cameron’s guest, Archie. We are talking live to Archie. Cameron asked Archie 2 questions: How often do you come down to the market? (Answer – Every Thursday and Saturday.) What is your favourite thing at the market? (Answer – Meeting people). Good to have you as a guest today Archie. Hope to see you again soon!
Today we have already sold necklaces, cards, rocks, flowers and a flamingo and it is not even 12 o’clock yet! The market is quiet but we have made lots of sales so far.
We finally sold the flamingo for £12 that nobody wanted at £15. Obviously, lowering the price helped!! We sold a whole bunch of different products today like heart cards, candle logs (both!!), tea lights, flowers, jewellery and a tea pot. We started out very very slowly because all the people were watching the carnival parade but when it was over we were very busy. We also ate lots of sugar!
We had a slow start today but things really picked up in the afternoon. We have sold lots of heart cards. We also sold the Super Hero Mirror which is good because we have had it a long time. We have now sold our last Owl picture frma which is sad because they were a very successful selling product. Abigail and Tilly were really serving the customers well today and as a result I think there were more sales. Well done girls!
Today on the market, we have been cutting up some donated greeting cards to make flash cards for Reception classes. We have been selling things really slowly as there are not that many people here because it’s a holiday but things are starting to pick up. A couple of minutes ago it was pretty cold but now the sun is coming out. I have just finished making some paper beads and putting on the nail varnish (it makes it shiny). We have sold some things today but people are just looking around our area and not really buying anything but it’s going fine. I have now been joined by Tilly and we are both eating cheesy chips!! Mmmmm.
Today we arrived at midday and the first thing we did was get chips for lunch – they were really nice. Miss Smith has been making a beautiful Elmer the elephant with a little butterfly. We love it!
